North Northamptonshire Council has today launched a consultation on plans to install CCTV in Corby as part of the wider Town Centre to Train Station Link Road project.

It is proposed that cameras are installed at:

  • The Oakley Road/Burghley Drive corner
  • In the pedestrian/cycle path tunnels on Oakley Road

The proposals are part of a package of additional works, which the council are looking to implement following comments made during the public consultation for the Town Centre to Train Station Link Road project.

When the council undertook the initial consultation and engagement on the plans for the route, one of the common themes that came up was around public safety.

It’s great to see people using the route and we hope this usage grows. As part of the additional works, we have now launched this consultation and are looking to install CCTV to further improve the area.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank residents and road users for their patience whilst works have been undertaken and hope everyone sees the benefits of the completed works.
Cllr Jan O’Hara, the council’s Executive Member for Planning and Economic Growth

The majority of works on the Corby Station Link Road have now been completed with traffic management lifted along the Oakley Road. A small amount of work is still to be undertaken on Elizabeth Street, it is anticipated that this will be completed in the coming weeks.
