Winter scene in a park with a fence

Children and young people are invited to get creative and enter a Christmas art competition to design a festive scene from North Northamptonshire.

In the build up to Christmas, North Northamptonshire Council has launched the seasonal art competition which is open to children aged four to 16.

This year’s theme is to create a festive scene showing young people’s favourite place in winter in North Northamptonshire, with the winning entries scooping a cash prize, and shared on the council website and social media.

Artwork can be hand-drawn or digital. There will be three age categories based on school year – Reception to Year 2, Year 3 to Year 6, and Year 7 to Year 11. Entries should include the artist’s school year, or date of birth if home-educated.

All entrants must live within North Northamptonshire.

The competition is free to enter, with the winning designs receiving a £20 voucher per age-group, with the overall winner receiving a £50 voucher, and a framed print of their entry.

The deadline for entries is Friday 5 December 2025, with the winners announced on Monday 15 December 2025. The best entries will be chosen by a panel of judges from the council. Please note, the use of AI to create artwork is not permitted.

With Christmas just around the corner, this is a lovely opportunity for children and teenagers to put their creative energy into something that, not only shows off their artistic skills, but also showcases some of the unique and beautiful places across North Northamptonshire. I cannot wait to see what young people come up with, and I know looking through the artwork will put us all in the festive spirit.Cllr Elizabeth Wright, Executive Member for Children, Families and Education, at North Northamptonshire Council
I urge parents and carers to encourage young people to enter the competition. North Northamptonshire is a great place and our towns and villages provide a wonderful backdrop for kids to create Christmas scene that we can all enjoy.
Cllr Martin Griffiths, Leader of North Northamptonshire Council
