Financial support for council tenants
We want to help you stay in control of your finances and sustain your tenancy by giving you the right tools, advice and support to:
- budget and manage money effectively
- reduce or manage debt
- access benefits they are entitled to
- avoid crisis situations
We will offer early and tailored support (especially if you're on a introductory or fixed term tenancy) and work with council and external partners to help you.
Support
Our Tenancy Support and Housing teams can provide tailored help to:
- apply for benefits and Universal Credit
- understand rent payments, arrears, and service charges
- budget and manage your finances
- apply for Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP)
- get referrals to local food banks and crisis support schemes
- apply for white goods, grants, or hardship funds
- access Money and Pension Service approved agencies
- navigate fuel debt, digital exclusion or other housing-related barriers
- get connected with trusted support organisations
