Hi Street Christmas advert 2025
What Does Christmas Mean to You?
by Jazmine Cartwright
We’re proud to share our brand-new Hi Street Christmas advert, created to celebrate the magic of our local high streets and the incredible small businesses that make our towns special!
Video - What does Christmas mean to you?The advert features an emotive spoken word poem, 'What Does Christmas Mean to You?', written by local poet Jazmine Cartwright, founder of Rushden Rhymes and a passionate advocate for community storytelling.
Her words take viewers on a nostalgic journey through the sights, sounds, and feelings of Christmas, bells on shop doors, laughter in the streets, and the warmth of familiar faces, highlighting that the true magic lies in supporting local.

What does Christmas mean to you?
Is it tradition
gift giving
or the food?
Is it bringing the family together
or just that festive mood?
To me…
Christmas means supporting local

It’s going to the places my mum took me
and one day I’ll take my children too
Walking the same routes
Along the High Street
Where Christmas lives

It’s recognising friendly faces
running the shops passed down through time
Hearing
'Are you all ready for Christmas?'

It’s collecting the tree from round the corner
The scent of damp earthy evergreen
Cheeks crimson
Laughter contagious

It’s picking the toys the little ones pointed at
Thinking
This is what it’s all about
It’s calling into the butchers
To preorder the turkey
Seeing their windows
Trimmed in gold
The faint ring of bells on the door
as another local steps in

It’s sharing stories with neighbours
Warming your hands on a coffee
Made by another family
Just like yours

It’s decorating together
With a box of mismatched baubles
A decade old collection
That mean the world to you
and for a moment
everything feels just right

As you sit
With your loved ones
you hope that everyone
who made your Christmas special
is sitting with theirs too
