Environmental permits

Part A(2) and Part B activities and the council

We're responsible for regulating Part A(2) for all emissions and Part B activities for emissions to air only.

Any installation required to obtain a permit will need to apply to the relevant regulator and pay an application fee. Thereafter an annual subsistence fee is payable the amount of which is determined by a risk assessment and the sector the process falls under.

If your installation needs a permit, you will need to apply through our team and pay an application fee. After that, an annual fee is payable which depends on a risk assessment of the sector the process falls under.

Permits

Any permits we issue will include conditions on how to minimise pollution.

Conditions will take into account Government guidance on appropriate pollution standards for different types of installations, which balance protecting the environment and costs.

We'll carry out periodic inspections to make sure these conditions are complied with.
