Local Drug Information System (LDIS)

The Northamptonshire Local Drug Information System (LDIS) is coordinated on behalf of North Northamptonshire Council and West Northamptonshire Council to support the identification, monitoring and assessment of emerging substance-related trends across the county.

The LDIS receives and reviews information relating to new, novel, potent, dangerous, adulterated, or contaminated substances. Information submitted to the system is assessed alongside other available intelligence to identify potential trends, emerging threats and risks to public health.

The primary purpose of the LDIS is to support informed decision-making regarding the need for local drug alerts and harm reduction messaging. This is with the aim of reducing substance-related harm, overdoses and drug-related deaths within Northamptonshire communities.

Professionals working across health, social care, treatment services, emergency services, community safety and other relevant sectors are encouraged to share relevant information, where appropriate. All information submitted should be fully anonymised and sent via email to [email protected].

The LDIS inbox is monitored Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, excluding public holidays. The LDIS operates as a non-emergency monitoring and intelligence-sharing system and should not be used as a substitute for emergency services and processes, safeguarding procedures, or established incident reporting processes. Where an immediate risk to life or serious harm exists, emergency services should be contacted via 999.
