Town and parish councils
North Northamptonshire has over 100 town and parish councils, each one electing Councillors every 4 years to serve the local community. The most recent elections to these councils were in May 2021.

Current town and parish council vacancies
Please see below for notices of vacancy for town and parish councils within North Northamptonshire. If you live or work within the relevant parish (and meet the relevant criteria) you could stand for election as a councillor or be co-opted on to the town or parish council.
I must give notice, under Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972, that a vacancy exists in the office of Parish Councillor for Gretton Parish Council.
The vacancy has arisen due to the resignation of Caroline Curtis.
For a by-election to be held to fill the vacancy, a written request made by ten registered local government electors of Gretton Parish Council, must be submitted within 14 days of this notice (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays). Vacancies for 2 Parish councillors
Public notice is hereby given that two casual vacancies have occurred in the office of Councillor for the Parish of Wilbarston following the resignations of Catherine Knight and Helen Johnson.
Rule 5(2) of The Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules 2006 now applies.
The rule allows ten electors for the ward in which the casual vacancies have arisen to request the Proper Officer to hold an election to the vacancies. * That request must be made within fourteen days, calculated in accordance with the rules, **of the date of this notice. The fourteen-day period ends at midnight on 4 November 2026.
What if a request to hold an election is not received during the permitted time?
Rule 5(5) of the above Rules will apply. The Parish Council must, as soon as practicable after the expiry of the fourteen-day period, co-opt persons to fill the vacancies.
