Climate projects

As part our Carbon Management plan, we are carrying out decarbonisation upgrades to some of our buildings to boost their energy efficiency.

We have been granted nearly £3.9 million against a total project cost of £4.4 million under the government's Public Services Decarbonisation Scheme.

Upgrades

Our project will upgrade 3 facilities - Corby Cube, Corby Swimming Pool and Desborough Leisure Centre.

It will see fossil fuel boilers replaced with air source heat pumps and the installation of solar panels at the facilities, alongside other energy efficiency measures.

Decarbonisation

Once complete, it's estimated that 690 tonnes of carbon will be removed annually - a 3% reduction of the council’s carbon footprint for its operations of 20,084 tonnes.
