North Northamptonshire Council has launched a proposed new Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) policy in a bid to further tackle anti-social behaviour in our communities.

The newly proposed policy includes clear ways for residents to report incidents when experiencing anti-social behaviour, better coordination between council services, police, and community partners, improved support services for victims and preventative programmes targeting root causes of anti-social behaviour.

The Anti Social Behaviour Policy, developed following extensive consultation with internal and external partners, aims to:

  • tackle it efficiently and effectively in North Northamptonshire using appropriate and proportionate interventions
  • protect residents, prevent it and promote sustainable communities
  • encourage and develop partnerships by working with a variety of agencies and the council’s internal departments to prevent and reduce it
  • provide clear and consistent information about how the council will respond to complaints

The Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003 requires local housing authorities and registered social landlords to prepare and publish a policy in relation to anti-social behaviour (ASB) and procedures for dealing with occurrences of ASB.

To view the draft Anti Social Behaviour Policy and take part in the questionnaire visit the North Northamptonshire Council website.

The new proposed policy represents a significant step forward in the council's commitment to creating safer neighbourhoods and improving quality of life for all residents.

North Northamptonshire Council's Stronger and Safer Communities Team, who have developed the proposals, works in partnership with local agencies and community groups to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour and fear of crime, making North Northamptonshire a safer place to live, work and visit.

Your views are important and will help us shape the policy, so please read the document and then let us know your thoughts by answering the questionnaire. We welcome views from residents and businesses and we will use the information we receive to make sure the policy is something that works for everyone living in North Northamptonshire.
Cllr Gregory Wilcox, North Northamptonshire Council's Executive Member for Communities
