Political group leaders announced for North Northamptonshire Council

North Northamptonshire Council has received formal notification from its political groups of who will lead each group following the recent local elections held on 1 May.
The Leader of the Council will be approved at Annual Council on 22 May.
Details of the new leaders will form part of a wider report on the new political make-up of the council which will be considered and approved at Annual Council.
Following the election the new political structure will be:
- 39 Reform UK
- 13 Conservative
- 8 Green
- 4 Labour
- 1 Liberal Democrat
- 1 Independent
- 2 Vacant seats (Higham Ferrers Ward)
The proposed leaders for the political groups are as follows:
Reform UK – Cllr Martin Griffiths
Conservative – Cllr Helen Harrison
Green – Cllr Emily Fedorowycz
Labour – Cllr Mark Pengelly
Communities Alliance – Cllr Jim Hakewill
The report before Annual Council will also include electing a new Council Chair and Vice-Chair, appointing a new Council Leader and confirming the new Executive Members.
Council will also need to agree the membership of the various committees that councillors sit on, along with representatives for a number of boards and forums within the area.
The election for the Higham Ferrers ward, which comprises two seats, has been rearranged to June 12 due to the death of one of the candidates.
