North Northamptonshire Council has awarded a new contract to run two rural bus services.

Following a tendering process the council has selected Stagecoach to operate the routes that run between Kettering – Geddington – Corby and Corby – Thrapston from Monday, September 5.

The previous operator of the routes had informed the council it could no longer run the services – necessitating a new tendering process.

Keeping communities connected is a priority for the council and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to step in and appoint a new contractor to run the routes.

I am pleased to advise that Stagecoach will start operating the services in the very near future and I very much look forward to working with them on this.

Bus services provide such a vital role in providing an alternative to car travel particularly in our rural communities and I’m pleased that the council has been able to find a solution in providing continuity of service.Cllr Jason Smithers, Leader of the Council

We very much look forward to welcoming new customers on board our buses, and are proud to be able keep people connected with their local communities.

With the rising price of fuel there’s never been a better time for people to try the bus.
