North Northamptonshire Council and partners celebrate the invaluable role of unpaid carers
09 June 2025

North Northamptonshire Council, statutory, voluntary and community organisations are coming together to acknowledge and celebrate the invaluable role that unpaid carers provide for family and loved ones across North Northamptonshire.
Coinciding with national Carers’ Week, 9 -15 June 2025, the council, supported by local partners, is hosting a Carers’ Fayre and a Carers’ Coffee Morning to raise awareness of unpaid carers and to highlight the inequalities they face including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, and poor mental and physical health.
The activities aim to provide an opportunity for unpaid carers to meet with other carers, council professionals, and organisations who receive funding from the council to deliver services for carers on its behalf, such as Northamptonshire Carers.
The events also build upon North Northamptonshire Council’s first All Age Carers Strategy, recently co-produced in partnership with unpaid carers, which outlines the council’s intentions to improve and develop services and experiences for unpaid carers, of all ages, who provide care across the local area.
The strategy, along with wider information for carers is available on North Northamptonshire Council’s Looking After Someone webpage. The resource includes advice on carers assessments, carers’ breaks, and advocacy and invites interest from carers interested in participating in a carers’ forum.
The invaluable role that unpaid carers undertake in caring for loved ones, day in day out, cannot be underestimated, and I am delighted that North Northamptonshire Council is holding activities to coincide with national Carers Week to acknowledge the efforts and contributions made by unpaid carers across our local area.David Watts, North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive Director of Adults, Health Partnerships and Housing (DASS)
Far too often, carers of all-ages miss out on opportunities in their education, careers, or personal lives because of their caring role.
If you are a carer or know someone who could benefit from the services that are available for carers, please come along to our events to find out more about the options available.
The Carers’ Fayre is being held on Wednesday, 11 June 2025, 10am to 3pm, at the Ise Valley Pavilion, Grantown Close, Kettering, NN15 5DJ.
The Carers’ Coffee Morning is taking place on Tuesday 24 June 2025, 10am to 11.30am, at the North Northamptonshire Council Chamber, Cedar Drive, Thrapston, NN14 4LZ.
For both events there is no need to book in advance; carers are invited to drop in informally during these times.
