North Northamptonshire Council, alongside partner organisations, have installed new permanent football goal post near the skate park on the Hemmingwell Estate, creating a dedicated football pitch that is free for local residents to enjoy.

This exciting initiative is being delivered through a partnership between the HemmingWellBeing Programme, Greatwell Homes (who funded the project), North Northamptonshire Council, Northamptonshire Sport, Premier League Kicks, and the Northamptonshire Football Association, all working together to improve opportunities for young people and the wider community.

It is hoped that the new facilities will provide a safe and welcoming space for children, young people, families and friends to come together, play football, stay active and strengthen community connections.

The new goals form part of the wider HemmingWellBeing Programme, a hyper-local initiative that has seen partners working collaboratively for more than two years to improve opportunities and outcomes for residents across the Hemmingwell area. The programme involves teams from across North Northamptonshire Council and is supported through funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, North Northamptonshire Council and other partner organisations.

The football pitch is the first of a number of projects and initiatives planned over the coming four years, all aimed at enhancing community wellbeing, encouraging participation in physical activity and creating positive opportunities for local people.

We're delighted to see this investment being made in the Hemmingwell community and pleased to support the installation of these new football goal posts on our land. Providing accessible, high-quality spaces where residents can come together, be active and enjoy sport is an important part of creating thriving communities.

This project is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when organisations work in partnership, and I'd like to thank all those involved. We look forward to seeing residents make full use of these new facilities for many years to come.

It is a delight to see how what began as a simple request to Jo Savage, CEO of Greatwell Homes, for support to provide a free football facility for the community has now been fully realised. This has only been possible because every organisation involved came together- not just to deliver the facility itself, but to work in genuine partnership to explore programmes that will help the community make maximum use of it.Connie G. Penn, Strategic Lead for the HemmingWellBeing Programme

The new goals will help encourage informal play, promote healthy lifestyles and inspire the next generation of local footballers, while providing a lasting community asset for the Hemmingwell Estate.

Further information about the installation and future HemmingWellBeing Programme initiatives will be shared in due course. Residents are encouraged to look out for updates and join in celebrating this exciting addition to the local community.
