North Northamptonshire Council’s SHAPE Dance has once again delighted audiences with its annual showcase at the Corby Core Theatre, marking the culmination of another fantastic year of dance and community engagement. The vibrant performances not only celebrate artistic achievement but also highlight the council’s commitment to helping children and young people stay active and connected through creative movement.

Held on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November, the four shows brought together up to 300 young dancers who performed exciting routines inspired by themes such as Moana, High School Musical, and Back to the 80s. Each show played to packed audiences, reflecting the strong local support for opportunities that encourage young people to thrive both physically and creatively.

Adding an extra sparkle to the season, the shows concluded with a festive Christmas finale - an energetic celebration that captured the joy and confidence SHAPE Dance nurtures in its performers. This annual event is more than a performance; it’s a testament to months of dedication, teamwork, and the positive impact of regular physical activity on wellbeing.

SHAPE Dance is part of North Northamptonshire Council’s wide range of leisure and physical activity programmes designed to help residents of all ages and abilities to be active, healthy, and socially connected. SHAPE Dance offers classes for ages 4 and up in tap, ballet, and modern dance, and provides an inclusive, supportive environment where young people can develop skills, build confidence, and make lasting friendships.

I congratulate all the children, young people, and our leisure colleagues for another brilliant performance. What stands out is not only the talent on stage, but the dedication shown week after week in classes. SHAPE Dance is a shining example of how movement and physical activity can boost confidence, creativity, and community spirit in North Northamptonshire.
