HIV Testing Week highlights free and confidential testing options in Northamptonshire
Health protection10 February 2026

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) is encouraging people across the county to take part in HIV Testing Week by accessing free, confidential and easy HIV testing.
HIV can affect anyone, at any stage of life, and early testing remains one of the most effective ways to protect your health and prevent onward transmission. NHFT, in partnership with North Northamptonshire Council and West Northamptonshire Council, provides a range of testing options so people can choose the approach that best suits them. This includes local clinic appointments, community-based sessions and discreet postal kits delivered directly to their home.
Misconceptions and stigma remain common barriers to HIV testing. NHFT is encouraging people to share accurate information with their family and friends, helping to support those who would benefit from getting a test.
We want everyone across Northamptonshire to feel confident accessing HIV testing. Our services are free, confidential and designed to meet your needs with sensitivity and respect. Testing is simple, quick and can make a significant difference to your health and peace of mind.Dr Sophie Herbert, Consultant Physician in Sexual Health/HIV Medicine, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
NHFT’s sexual health services are provided by friendly, supportive and non-judgemental teams who understand the importance of quality care and privacy.
Testing is designed to make it as easy as possible for you. Those who prefer to test at home can order a discreet postal kit, while others may choose to attend a local clinic for in-person support. Where some need ongoing treatment or support, this is also provided by NHFT, ensuring quality, safe care from test through to treatment.
Full details about available testing options can also be found on the NHFT website.
