Full Council meeting on 25 June postponed

The decision has been taken to postpone tomorrow evening’s Full Council meeting. This is due to the extreme heat and the related health concerns. The decision follows liaison with group leaders/deputy leaders and with the Vice Chair of the Council. 

Temperatures in the Council Chamber were 28 degrees centigrade this afternoon and rising. We expect that the room will be hotter tomorrow evening and despite our efforts to cool the room with fans, we are conscious that the temperature will make the meeting uncomfortably warm for councillors, officers and members of the public. 

The meeting has been provisionally rescheduled to take place on 16 July, but further confirmation will be provided before the end of this week. All items on the published agenda (including motions), questions and statements will be considered at the rescheduled meeting.
