The second annual Youth Summit will take place in November bringing together a range of partners with the aim of championing young people and showcasing their talents and potential.

Last year’s inaugural event was attended by over 60 young people and 40 professionals from across North Northamptonshire, including schools, councillors, and youth groups, with panel discussions, presentations, and workshops, live-streamed to a number of schools which tuned in virtually. One of the key outcomes of last year’s summit was the launch of the Youth Charter, a pledge to uphold the rights, voice, and influence of young people, and set out a shared commitment to meaningful engagement and inclusion.

This year’s event – designed by young people, for young people – will take place during Youth Work Week on Thursday, 5 November 2026, from 10.30am-3pm, at Kettering Leisure Village.

It will be hosted, once again, by the North Northamptonshire Youth Advisory Council, supported by North Northamptonshire Council.

The summit will feature debates on key topics, as well as interactive stalls, and workshops, plus an opportunities and futures fayre, with lots of freebies. As well as the organisers, it will be attended by partner organisations, clubs, non-profits and charities offering services and support for young people.

The event is open to all young people aged 11–19 (or up to 25 for those with SEND). All secondary schools and colleges across North Northamptonshire will be invited to attend, including Special Schools and Alternative Provisions. Youth groups are also welcome to attend.

The occasion will provide a platform for young people to share their experiences, celebrate differences, challenge inequalities, and help shape a more inclusive future for everyone in North Northamptonshire.

The Youth Summit is a fantastic opportunity for young people from across North Northamptonshire to come together, have their voices heard, and help shape the future of their communities. Last year’s event demonstrated just how passionate, creative and insightful our young people are, and I’m looking forward to seeing even more young people get involved this year. Whether you want to share your views, learn about the support and opportunities available, or simply connect with others, I would encourage you to attend and be part of what promises to be an inspiring and engaging day.Cllr Elizabeth Wright, North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive Member for Children, Education and Families
