Ditchford Bridge - emergency road closure

An emergency road closure is currently in place due to a vehicle accidentally hitting Ditchford Bridge on Ditchford Lane, Rushden.

Following the incident, the bridge is currently not safe for road users due to an exposed drop onto the embankment and river below.

A fully signed diversion will be in place as soon as possible.

The bridge will remain closed until it has been assessed and we are looking to see if temporary measures can be put in place.

Ditchford Bridge is a scheduled monument, which means consent from Historic England will be needed, before any work (including temporary measures) can take place.

We are asking drivers to allow enough time for journeys, and we will update with further information as soon as possible on NNC channels.
