Council’s educational vision will ensure ‘no child left behind'
Schools and education01 September 2025

An ambitious vision is being set out to improve schools and promote the highest standards in education across North Northamptonshire through collaboration and shared learning.
North Northamptonshire Council is looking to introduce an Education Improvement Framework 2025–2028 aiming to raise educational standards at schools, academies, and early years providers and ensure everyone has access to high quality education.
The innovative framework would boost standards through collaboration, challenge, and targeted intervention, and would have a particular focus on improving educational outcomes for those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged.
Locality networks would be developed in key areas across North Northamptonshire to provide peer-to-peer support, share best practice, and target intervention, coordinated by School Improvement Advisors (SIAs) and Early Education Childcare Advisors (EECAs).
Four tiers of support would also be introduced through the framework – Secure+, Secure, Vulnerable, and Cause for Concern. Educational providers needing the most support would receive structured assistance through the Targeted Rapid Improvement Process (TRIP), which includes regular reviews, action planning, and escalation options where necessary.
Other proposals include dedicated support for early years providers, headteacher induction, and mentoring.
As well as improving educational outcomes for children across North Northamptonshire, the framework would also help identify and address underperformance, safeguarding risks, and leadership vulnerabilities in a timely and supportive manner.
This framework aims to ensure that no child or educational setting is left behind, and that North Northamptonshire becomes a region of educational excellence. It will foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and inclusive practice, and build on existing models of collaboration and support. Not only will it be a transparent and cost-effective approach to the Council’s statutory duty to promote high educational standards, but it would also improve outcomes for vulnerable learners and strengthen communities.Cllr Elizabeth Wright, Executive Member for Children’s Families and Education, at North Northamptonshire Council
North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive will consider the proposals at its meeting on Tuesday 9 September 2025.
