The way residents access the council’s housing and property services is set to be made easier and faster under new proposals.

North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive will meet on 14 April 2026 to consider a £1.6 million investment to create a number of benefits, by replacing outdated IT systems with a new case management system, and transforming how people use its services.

The new Housing ICT Harmonisation Project supports the council’s ambition to provide Smarter, Faster, Fairer Public Services, and reflects its commitment to modern, efficient and resident focused service delivery.

The project would consolidate several long standing, siloed systems – some dating back more than a decade – into one unified Microsoft based platform. This will give the council better, more up-to-date information about properties and repairs, improving accuracy, efficiency and customer experience.

This is an important and positive step for tenants, leaseholders and our housing teams. A single, modern system will make it easier for residents to access services, report repairs and manage their tenancy.

It will also help us communicate more clearly and respond more quickly. This programme is about ensuring our services keep pace with expectations and deliver the quality our residents deserve.
Cllr Brian Benneyworth, Executive Member for Housing, Health and Leisure

Benefits for residents include faster responses to repairs and housing enquiries, a more consistent service, a new online resident portal for managing rent accounts and reporting issues, as well as clearer, more modern and more reliable communication.

The project will also benefit the council too, creating a single, integrated system aligned with its digital strategy, reduced cyber security risks, and lower long term IT maintenance costs. It will streamline processes, improve data quality, and provide better insight and analytics.

The major investment is fully funded through existing budgets and reserves already set aside.

If approved by Executive, the procurement process will begin, with contract award expected in July 2026 and system implementation commencing in August 2026.

This investment lays the foundations for a modern, unified housing service that will support our teams to work more efficiently and allow us to deliver the very best outcomes for residents. By bringing our systems together, we can offer a more joined up, reliable and accessible service for the communities we serve.Cllr Brian Benneyworth, Executive Member for Housing, Health and Leisure

If approved, the project is expected to be fully completed by August 2027.
