North Northamptonshire Council is set to publish its latest Carbon Management Plan (CMP) Annual Report, highlighting significant progress in reducing emissions, improving energy efficiency and enhancing the local environment across the area.

The report covers April 2025 to March 2026 and shows that 36 carbon reduction activities have been completed, with a further 46 projects on track.

The council’s Carbon Management Plan has been updated to reflect the decision taken in 2025 to align the council’s target with the national statutory net zero target of 2050.

Recent achievements include:

  • Energy efficiency improvements at Corby Swimming Pool, Desborough Leisure Centre and the Corby Cube, including the installation of solar panels and heat pumps.
  • More than 10,000 trees planted during 2025/26 planting season and an additional £62,000 secured from Forestry Commission to support woodland creation and maintenance.
  • Over 500 public electric vehicle charging points have been installed across North Northamptonshire, with new charging infrastructure installed in Wellingborough to support the council’s electric vehicle fleet.
  • Launch of new Tailored Energy Advice Service
  • Conversion of more than 26,700 streetlights to LED technology

The Place and Environment Scrutiny Committee will consider the annual report at its meeting on 25 August before the report is published on the council's website.
