Growth, plans and policies07 April 2026

The final Corby Towns Fund project, the transformation of Grosvenor House in the centre of Corby, is one step closer to being completed after the appointment of a contractor for the works required on site.
Krol Corlett are due to start work on the refurbishment of the space from Tuesday 7 April, with work expected to take 9 months.
The multi-use building at Grosvenor House in Corby is one of four projects that North Northamptonshire Council were awarded funding from central government, in June 2021, to deliver.
Once complete, the multi-purpose facility will provide permanent new accommodation for a modern, cultural building with a community focus, as well as meeting the identified demand for creative, media and third sector use. It is also hoped that the facilities will increase footfall across the town centre.
The redevelopment of Grosvenor House on George Street in Corby represents an exciting step forward for the project and town. The aim is to create a modern, multi-use space for community, cultural and creative organisations, we’re investing in a vibrant future for our town centre. This project will not only provide high-quality facilities but also help increase footfall in the town centre, supporting local businesses and residents.Cllr Jan O’Hara, the council’s Executive Member for Planning and Economic Growth
We’re delighted to be on board for such a key project for the people of Corby. Our aim is always to maximise the social value of our work so that its impact is felt as widely as possible, and so we have engaged with Corby’s excellent local supply chain as well as employing local labour.Mike Topping, senior contracts manager at Krol Corlett
The job will benefit from our wide experience managing live sites, where we carefully work around other building users and neighbours. Considering the needs of all stakeholders is a key part of how we work.
The council were previously committed to contractually spending the funding received from the project by the end of March 2026. However, after a review, the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government extended the final deadline to March 2028 - the money cannot be used on any other project or works.
Whilst work starts on site, North Northamptonshire Council continue to look at options for the operation of the building and are committed to finding the right organisations to deliver this important offer to the public.
Further updates about the project will be published in due course and there is more information about the multi-use building project on the dedicated Corby Towns Fund website.
