I am profoundly shocked and deeply saddened by the horrific attack on Bondi Beach on the first night of Hanukkah. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those who were tragically killed and to those who were injured in what has been a heinous antisemitic act of terrorism.

On behalf of North Northamptonshire Council, I extend our deepest condolences to everyone affected by this atrocity. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish community locally, nationally, in Australia and around the world. We condemn in the strongest possible terms this act of hatred and we stand firmly against antisemitism in all its forms.

In these dark times, we must cling more tightly to the values of unity, empathy and mutual respect. Let us honour the memory of the victims by rejecting hatred and by building a stronger, more inclusive community for all. We offer our support to the Jewish community here at home who will also be deeply affected.

To all those mourning tonight, I stand with you in sorrow, in solidarity and in hope.
Councillor Martin Griffiths, Leader of the Council
