Following on from their recent awards success at Northamptonshire Heritage Forum Awards, Cornerstone’s outreach team have a summer filled with activities planned.

The team were awarded the Community Wellbeing Award for Cornerstone’s outreach programme at the ceremony earlier in July. Cornerstone were commended for turning the site’s temporary closure into a powerful outreach programme. Judges applauded the team for embracing the closure as an opportunity, offering free activities, engagement sessions and access to their collections outside their usual venue. One judge described it as “the art of the possible” - a heartfelt project born out of a need to reconnect and support a town’s cultural confidence.

The team are now looking toward to their summer activities. Activities this summer will see the team working with Artworks (Supported by the Friends of Kettering Art Gallery & Museum and Kettering District Art Society), Kettering Town Council and the Kettering library team.

Events include activities on the Market Place as part of Kettering by the Sea and workshops at Artworks in the Newlands Centre.

With Cornerstone temporarily closed, the team have had to be inventive and think outside the box. This recent award success is testament to their hard work and determination and I applaud them.

But the hard work doesn’t stop there, and the team are gearing up for a packed summer full of wonderful activities across Kettering town centre - all perfect for our younger residents.
