Our council

North Northamptonshire Council was established in 2021. Four districts and half of one county council came together to form one of the largest unitary councils in the country.

Our commitments and values

We want North Northamptonshire to be a place where everyone has the best opportunities and quality of life. Our Corporate Plan sets out how we want to achieve this with six commitments and values that guide us.

  • Active, fulfilled lives
  • Better, brighter futures
  • Safe and thriving places
  • Green, sustainable environment
  • Connected communities
  • Modern public services

Our values are our guiding principles. They help guide us in the way we provide services and how we will achieve our vision and deliver our priorities for the future:

• Customer-focused
• Respectful
• Efficient
• Supportive
• Trustworthy

Disability Confident employer

We are a Disability Confident employer which means we think differently about disability as we:

  • tap into the huge pool of talent amongst disabled people, and recruit, retain and develop people with the skills we need
  • have an increased understanding of disability and how to make the most of the opportunities provided by employing disabled people
  • remove barriers that might be preventing disabled people and those with long-term health conditions from accessing employment
  • play our part in ensuring that disabled people have opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations.
