Irchester Country Park is open all day, every day with free admission, parking charges apply.

The pay and display car park, cafe and toilets have separate opening times below.

Directions

By car

Follow the brown and white signs to Irchester Country Park. The main entrance is on Gypsy Lane (B570) off the A509 between Wellingborough and Wollaston.

By bus

A regular bus service stops opposite the parks main entrance on B570.

A designated cycle route is available from Wellingborough.

Parking costs and passes

Parking at Irchester Country Park costs:

  • £3.20 for up to 4 hours
  • £5.20 for up to 8 hours
  • £7.20 for up to 12 hours

There are pay points in each car park taking coin or card.

​If your car is in the main car park after closing time it will be locked in until opening time the next day.

If you wish to be released before this you will need to telephone our appointed security company, 1st Reaction Security, on 01536 513999 and pay them a call out fee to unlock the barrier.

Parks and Woodlands Coach Parking Information

There is limited parking for coaches in our country parks and woodlands.

Anything larger than an 18-seater is classed as a coach.

Please email [email protected] in advance to either book a coach parking space or to discuss a suitable drop off area.

Jungle Parc

Enjoy treetop adventures on the high ropes course in the Jungle Parc.

Railway Museum

Irchester Narrow Gauge Railway Museum is home to a collection of exhibits and industrial artefacts, which include steam and diesel locomotives, a life-size diorama of a quarry, along with many other interesting displays.

The museum's usual opening hours are every Sunday from 10am to 5pm (10am to 3pm in winter).

BBQs

BBQs are currently banned due to the risk of fire.

Dog walking

We provide a pleasant dog friendly environment with areas where your dog is allowed off a lead (under control). Dogs are not permitted in the play areas.

We provide dog bins in several places that are easily accessible.

Quarrymen's Rest cafe

The cafe is open every day except Christmas Day (subject to proprietor's discretion).

Toilet opening times

Everyone, irrespective of age, ability or background, should feel welcome at our country parks and have an equal opportunity to discover, enjoy and benefit from them.

There are 3 trails at Irchester:

  • Easy access trail (half a mile) - fully surfaced, minimal gradients
  • Woodland trail (one and one-third miles) - mostly surfaced, short section across a mown grass meadow, gradients 1:12 and some steps
  • Ironstone heritage trail (2 and a half miles) - main woodland section surfaced, one section across grass, gradients to 1:12

All 3 trails have benches every 200 metres.

Blue badge holder parking is available situated near to accessible toilets. Pay and display charges apply.
