North Northamptonshire Council Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

North Northamptonshire Council (Kettering Road, Weldon) (Prohibition of right turns) Order 20XX

North Northamptonshire Council (“the council”), in exercise of its powers under Sections 1, 2 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act of 1984”), as amended, and of all other enabling powers, and after consulting with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act of 1984, hereby makes the following Order:

  1. This Order may be cited as the “North Northamptonshire Council (Kettering Road, Weldon) (Prohibition of Right Turns) Order 20XX” and shall come into force on XXXX.
  2. In this Order, except where the context otherwise requires, the following expressions have the meanings hereby respectively assigned to them: 
    “motor cycle” has the same meaning as in section 185(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988;
    “motor vehicle” has the same meaning as in section 136(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and includes a motor cycle; 
    “pedal cycle” or 
    “cycle” has the same meaning as in Schedule 1 to the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016; 
    “vehicle” means a motor vehicle or a pedal cycle.
  3. Except where otherwise stated, any reference in this Order to an Article or Schedule is a reference to the Article or Schedule bearing that number in this Order.
  4. The Interpretation Act 1978 shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
    Prohibition of right-hand turn
  5. Save as provided in Article 6, no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle proceeding from the Corby Household Recycling Centre so as to make a right turn into Kettering Road.
    Exemptions
  6. Nothing in Articles 5 of this order shall render it unlawful to cause or permit any vehicle to proceed in any direction if the vehicle is being used for police, fire, ambulance, or road cleansing purposes.
