Statement of reasons 2094
North Northamptonshire Council Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
North Northamptonshire Council (Public Footpath UE24 (Part), Irthlingborough) (Seasonal closure and alternative route) Order 2025
Statement of reasons
The purpose of this Order is to prohibit pedestrians from using part of Public Footpath UE24 in Irthlingborough between Points A-B-C on a seasonal basis, from 1 October to 1 March annually, and to provide a temporary alternative route between Points A-D-C during this period, as shown in the draft Order and accompanying plan.
This measure is considered necessary:
- to avoid danger to pedestrians using the footpath during the affected period
- to preserve the character of the area and protect the surrounding natural environment, particularly in relation to seasonal wildlife considerations
The council is satisfied that the Order is justified under Section 1(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which provides that a traffic authority may make an order where it appears expedient:
- for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or for preventing the likelihood of such danger arising
- for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road (or footpath) runs
