Holiday activities and food funding

HAF funding stands for Holiday Activities and Food funding.

It is money provided by the Department for Education to local councils in England to help children from low-income families access free activities and healthy meals during school holidays.

The funding is used to provide:

free holiday clubs and activities
healthy food and meals
sports, arts, and enrichment activities
support for children's wellbeing and development during school breaks

The programme is mainly aimed at children who receive benefit-related free school meals, although councils can sometimes use a small portion of the funding to support other children who would benefit.
