Food alerts

Food alerts are the Food Standards Agency's way of letting councils and consumers know about problems associated with food and, in some cases, provide details of specific action to be taken.

Our response

We will liaise with businesses, where appropriate, to ensure recall notices are displayed and action is taken.

Alerts are issued 'for information' where a solution to the problem has been put in place or 'for action' where action by enforcement authorities (e.g. the council) is needed. They are often issued in conjunction with a product withdrawal or recall by a manufacturer, retailer or distributor.
