Opening times

Queues

We're experiencing high numbers of visitors - if needed, we will temporarily close throughout the day to disperse traffic queuing on the road.

Vehicles that continue to queue and obstruct the approach roads may be asked to return to the site at a different time.

To help everyone, we ask that you to pre-sort your waste and recycling before leaving home, do not arrive before the site opens at 10am or block the local highway.

Restrictions

Check what restrictions and limits apply to how much waste you can bring as DIY waste disposal.

Vans and trailers

Vehicles are restricted to a maximum weight limit of 3.5 tonnes.

All commercial-type vehicles (including hired) need an e-permit to access the site. Find out more and apply for a free waste e-permit.

Site does accept trade waste

Small scale traders can recycle certain waste types, or dispose of general waste, at a competitive price at this site using the trade waste service.

Compost

Urbaser Ltd sells compost at this site for £4.50 per 25 litre bag, made from recycled green waste.

Webcam

The camera and ANPR system are due to be upgraded across the HWRC network. The webcam link for the HWRC sites has been temporarily removed whilst the work is being carried out - it will be reinstated once the CCTV improvements have been fully completed.

Using the centre

When using the centre:

  • do not arrive and queue before the site(s) open at 10am - obstructing the HWRC gates and approach roads can hinder staff getting to work and prevent the movement of large waste vehicles on and off site
  • stay safe by wearing protective gloves, appropriate footwear (no open toe footwear) and clothing
  • only bring what you can safely handle or bring someone along with you if you are bringing heavy or awkward sized items, as staff may not always be able to help you carry your waste
  • remember to pre-sort your waste before travelling, so we can get people in and out as quickly as possible to help reduce traffic during busy periods
  • be courteous to staff and other customers - unacceptable or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances and the site staff reserve the right to ask to leave the HWRC without depositing your waste
  • pedestrian access is not permitted at any of our sites - if you haven’t access to transport, then please contact customer services at least 2 working days prior to your intended visit to discuss arrangements
  • place all items in the correct containers
  • cooperate with staff and ask for assistance if needed
  • keep all children and animals inside your vehicle
  • observe the site speed limit and the one-way system - park in marked bays only or as directed by staff
  • comply with all policies such as e-permit and DIY waste restrictions
  • all commercial and chargeable household waste must be paid for
