Monitoring private distribution systems
If a water company such as Anglian Water provides water to your site and you're responsible for the onward distribution of that water to other premises which have different occupiers, this is a private distribution system.
We carry out risk assessments on private distribution systems, including pipes, storage tanks, etc, which join the buildings.
Monitoring is undertaken to check that measures are in place to make sure the water is safe.
The Drinking Water Inspectorate provides guidance on private distribution systems.
