Cycling and walking plans
Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) help us identify cycling and walking improvements that we can make to local areas.
These ten-year plans outline proposals for a network of safe routes across the area including dedicated cycle infrastructure, new footways, safer crossing, traffic calming and locations for cycle parking.
Funding for our proposals can then be sought from central Government and other sources.
Corby
Corby's draft LCWIP was published and open for public consultation for five weeks to give the public an opportunity to provide comments and help prioritise routes.
Results will be shared with Councillors and if the plan is approved, the LCWIP will be officially adopted by North Northamptonshire Council.
Kettering
Kettering's LCWIP was consulted on and showed 81% of respondents were happy or satisfied with the its proposals. The plan was approved in September 2023 and helps us to:
- identify prioritised cycling and walking infrastructure improvements for future investment
- ensure that consideration is given to cycling and walking in both local planning and transport policies and strategies
- make the case for future funding for walking and cycling infrastructure.
Work has started on developing the basic routes and proposals for Kettering and Burton Latimer into more detailed designs.
