Report long term segregation and seclusion

Long-term segregation means keeping a patient apart from others on a ward or unit for a long period of time because they are consistently a serious risk to others. This decision must be made through a review by a team of professionals, including someone from the relevant commissioning authority.

This must follow the rules set out in the Mental Health Act and its Code of Practice, and we must be informed.

You can report this online if it meets a 72-hour threshold.
