Safeguarding for learners and staff
Safeguarding is everybody's business. We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all learners and staff.
Abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional, financial, discriminatory or organisational. It can include neglect, domestic violence, self-neglect and modern slavery. If you feel unsafe, or witness something that you do not feel comfortable with, please report it immediately:
- by talking to your tutor or other staff member
- by contacting the Adult Learning Service's designated Safeguarding Officer, Helen Doel or the Deputy Safeguarding Officers, Tania Sowerby and Teresa Humpage on 01604 367119
You can also contact the Safeguarding Adult team.
If the concern is urgent, please contact North Northamptonshire Customer Service Centre on 0300 126 3000.
If a child or adult is in immediate danger, or missing, you should contact the police directly and/or an ambulance using 999. The non-emergency number for the police is 101.
If you do contact the customer service centre or the police directly please inform the Adult Learning Service's Safeguarding Officer when you can. This will ensure that support is available if needed, and that our records are up to date.
Prevent
Prevent is one of the elements of the government's counter terrorism strategy.
We have a duty to help protect learners from being radicalised. Radicalisation is the process through which a person comes to support or be involved in extremist ideologies. It can result in a person becoming drawn into terrorism and is in itself a form of harm.
If you are worried about someone showing signs of being radicalised or if you hear something that could be terrorist related report it:
- and talk to your tutor or other staff member
- and contact the Adult Learning Service's designated Safeguarding Officer, Helen Doel or the Deputy Safeguarding Officers, Tania Sowerby and Teresa Humpage on 01604 367119
