We have a range of industry placements available.
Placements are a minimum of 315 hours (about 45 days) and can be arranged flexibly - whether as a block placement, one day a week, or whatever works best for you and the council.
These opportunities are only available to those already on T-level programmes.
Opportunities
Tenant Liaison Officer
To be the first point of contact for the tenants enquiries, supporting them with their business requirements. This role includes front of house, agency viewings, attendance at meetings, supporting with the business development meetings and maintaining the marketing and events platform.

Reports to: Business Centres Manager or Deputy Business Centres Manager
Principal responsibilities
- Be the lead contact for tenant enquires, maintain the enquiry help desk, email account, front of house etc to ensure the tenants have a timely and satisfactory response to all enquiries. Escalate any problems to the senior officer and Deputy Centre Manager
- Inspect the front of house areas and other accommodation to ensure it is presented at a high standard, deal with routine matters of concern and escalate problems to senior management. Monitor action through to completion
- Front of house includes dealing with telephone calls, visitors, tenants, deliveries etc who should be dealt with in a prompt manner
- Supporting management with the business development events and marketing programme, booking firms and speakers, sorting meetings rooms, sending invitations, organising payments, room configurations etc through the facilities manager
- Completing letters, documents etc as directed using Word and Excel as required. Input of data on bespoke system
- Routine contractor management including booking in contractors, raising purchase orders, monitoring accounts for invoices, assisting with disputes, supporting with the year end close down of accounts
- Assisting with the health and safety evacuation and emergency plans, maintaining records and attendance in emergency operations.

- Undertaking fire warden and first aid duties holding appropriate certification

This job description reflects the major tasks to be carried out by the post holder and identifies a level of responsibility at which they will be required to work. Specific features of the post
- Receive and redirect telephone calls on behalf of tenants
- Update social media, proactively marketing the centres
- Mailroom duties including distribution/franking/special deliveries
- Photocopying items as required by tenants
- Recording data for sundries invoicing
- Compile monthly newsletter
- Health & Safety/compliance duties including emergency lighting/ disabled call functions/water flushing etc
- Diary co-ordination for the centres meeting rooms including ordering and costing of catering requirements
- Organising Furniture layout within the building as required
- Arrange and conduct viewings of the Business Centre
- Verifying identification, completing trade references and credit checks for potential new tenants
- Organise and set up I.T and phones for all new tenants at the Business Centres, liaising with I.T. support company and organising individual i.p. address set up
- Completing building inductions for new tenants – organising fobs and keys for units
- Updating telephone system keeping system regularly updated for billing purposes
- Assist opening and closing the centre to include alarm control
- Tenant risk assessment co-ordination
- Contractor co-ordination in relation to statutory compliance checks
- Co-ordinate and organise licence renewals for tenants
- Oversee Fire Evacuation process
- Organise training for fire wardens in accordance with H&S policy
- Assist in Year-end budget preparation

Waste Compliance Technical Support
This role will provide comprehensive support for the waste compliance and education team, including the preparation of evidence and prosecution files, including scheduling formal interviews, managing correspondence and maintaining records.

Reports to: Senior Administrator Officer
The post holder will also be required to conduct some research to support case preparation and strategy development.
The post holder will be able to ensure that all legal procedures are followed the service maintains compliance with current laws and regulations, and Council procedures.
Principal duties
This placement should attract a student who:

To provide administrative and marketing assistance to the council’s Senior Administrator Officer.

Principal duties
- Answering routine public enquiries; including from the main countryside telephone enquiry line and countryside generic email.
- To support on creating content for publicity purposes for the Country Parks and Woodlands activities
- To support on writing social media content for the Country Parks and Woodlands social media accounts
