The policies, once adopted, should be shared with staff and may be published on the schools staff intranet, but may not be shared further or published on the school’s external website:

  • Community, community special, voluntary controlled and local authority maintained nursery schools may adopt these policies without further trade union consultation because these schools are covered by the council’s Trade Union Recognition Agreement and we have consulted unions on these framework and model policies.

It is good practice to share the policies with staff and consider any feedback prior to the Governing Body formally adopting them. Should a schools wish to make amendments to the policy, the Governing Body will need to arrange their own consultation with local representatives of the relevant recognised trade unions

  • Voluntary Aided and Foundation schools - The Governing Body is the employer and are not covered by the council’s trade union recognition agreement - these schools will need to consult with the relevant trade unions recognised by the school if they wish to adopt this policy
