Removal of temporary public toilets in Kettering town centre
31 March 2022

With COVID-19 restrictions now eased and street scene improvements to start on Meadow Road, North Northamptonshire Council will be removing the temporary public toilets in Kettering town centre at the end of April.
The temporary facilities, which are located on Meadow Road in the town, were put in place to ensure town centre users had access to toilets whilst many of the permanent public conveniences had to close in response to the national lockdown restrictions put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The temporary toilets were introduced to ensure we could provide residents and visitors to Kettering town centre with toilet facilities whilst lockdown restrictions were in place last summer, meaning many local businesses that are part of our local Community Toilet Scheme had to close.Leader of North Northants Council, Cllr Jason Smithers
“We were pleased to be able to provide these facilities, and with Kettering town centre now open for business again, many organisations in the town are once again offering their toilet facilities for use as part of the Community Toilet Scheme, and we are thankful to them for their support.”
“The Community Toilet Scheme is a great initiative and something that’s led by the British Toilet Association, and is in place nationally to ensure residents are able to access a toilet when they need it whilst out and about.Executive Member for Highways, Travel and Assets, Cllr Graham Lawman
“Kettering town centre has many businesses signed up to the scheme already and they are providing toilet facilities again, and we are working closely with other businesses in the town to generate further support.”
“We are currently considering if we can provide a permanent set of public toilets for the town centre. However this is in the early stages and would take some time to bring forward.”Clerk to Kettering Town Council, Martin Hammond
