North Northamptonshire Council supports Armed Forces Day
Your council19 June 2023
Ahead of Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24 June, Councillors and Officers from North Northamptonshire Council have come together to pay tribute to the women and men who protect the United Kingdom and those who came before them.
Earlier today, Armed Forces Day flags were raised at all four of the council offices, with a small ceremony taking place at the Kettering office with NNC Officer and reservist, Leading Hand Stephen Dunkley, raising the flag. He was joined by fellow Officers with Armed Forces connections, NNC’s Deputy Leader - Cllr Helen Howell, Cllr Matt Binley and Oliver Wicksteed - Deputy Lieutenant for Northamptonshire.
Also, in attendance were Private James Cason and Private Joe Clifford, who is also a service instructor with the cadets, from 2 Company 3rd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment and Flight Sergeant Martyn York from RAF Wyton.
Armed Forces Day is a chance for individuals and organisations to show support for all those who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets. Armed Forces Day celebrations begin on Monday 19 June when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on buildings and landmarks across the country.
It was a privilege to attend the flag raising ceremony this morning and pay tribute to the excellent women and men from across the Armed Forces community.Cllr Matt Binley, NNC’s Executive Member for Housing Communities and Levelling Up
