It may only be the beginning of November, but North Northamptonshire Council is thinking ahead to Christmas and the annual light switch on event taking place in Wellingborough.

Wellingborough’s lights will be switched on Saturday 26 November between 2:30pm and 5:30pm.
Throughout the afternoon, there will be live entertainment on Market Street in Wellingborough. Performances will include local community acts performances, local singer Odette, Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust and Dynamix Dance Company,

Wellingborough Rotary Clubs with Santa and his sleigh, Wellingborough Carnival Committee plus the stars from the Castle Theatre’s pantomime - Jack and the Beanstalk. The event will conclude with a fireworks display.

Anyone who attends the event will have the chance to win family tickets to see Jack and the Beanstalk, plus the chance to turn on the Christmas lights, alongside the NNC Chairman and stars of the Castle Theatre’s pantomime.

The Christmas lights being turned on will bring the community together and definitely bring a festive spirit to the town. We are very much looking forward to seeing all the fantastic performances from our talented residents and community groups, who will take to the stage alongside the stars of Jack and the Beanstalk at the Castle Theatre.

After a difficult few years for everyone, it is great that we will all be able to come together and celebrate the official start of Christmas in Wellingborough.
Cllr Helen Howell, Deputy Leader of North Northamptonshire Council and Executive Member for Sport, Leisure, Culture and Tourism
I would encourage everyone to come down and take part in the festivities taking place in Wellingborough on Saturday 26 November, it really will be an event for the whole family.

Alongside the light switch on events we are hosting in Kettering and Wellingborough, the town and parish councils across North Northamptonshire have lots of events planned, so do keep an eye out for more events taking place near you.
