Local organisations which have ideas on how to help the economy of Northamptonshire’s towns and rural areas thrive have until 3 May to apply for grant funding.

North Northamptonshire Council is inviting applications to help it bid for funding from the Government’s Community Renewal Fund.

The four Investment priorities for the Renewal Fund are:

  • Investment in skills
  • Investment in businesses
  • Investment in communities and place
  • Supporting people into employment

About 100 ‘Priority Places’ have been identified by Government, including Corby, East Northamptonshire and Kettering.

The scope of projects must support economic development, including culture, sport and educational and training activities.

Those able to apply will include local councils, voluntary and community sector organisations, and local education providers, including universities. Projects should be predominantly, or exclusively revenue based.

Government guidance states, projects that focus predominantly on the construction or major refurbishment of buildings, the purchase of land or the purchase of large pieces of equipment will not be supported.

So people can find out more about the Community Renewal Fund, and developing strong business cases, two webinars have been arranged.

Once applications have been received North Northamptonshire Council will prepare a shortlist of projects to be submitted to Government by 18 June.

Decisions will be made by Government from July 2021 and all delivery and spend must take place by 31, March, 2022.

Further information on the Renewal Fund is available on the business section of the council’s website and also on the Government’s website.
