16 November 2022
The countdown is on to North Northamptonshire Council’s virtual climate change conference which takes place tomorrow.
• Looking forward – our new low carbon future
• Sustainability and nature recovery – the way ahead
• The future of our communities – providing local solutions
A full list of the speakers is now available online. People are invited to submit questions in advance to form the basis of Q&A discussions which will follow each of the sessions.
Questions can be submitted, along with the name of the relevant speaker, to [email protected]
The day will feature keynote speakers including representatives from, Electric Places, the University of Northampton, Kier Highways and the Friars Academy in Wellingborough.
The conference will be virtual, taking place online to reduce the carbon footprint of the event.
This is the second such forum that the council has convened, building on the success of the inaugural conference – NNClimate21 – in November 2021.
I’m delighted that we’ve finalised our list of speakers for this week’s event – I’m very much looking forward to hearing about all the good work going on in the area and hearing some engaging discussion.Cllr Harriet Pentland, the Council’s Executive Member for Climate and the Green Environment
I’d also encourage as many people as possible to view the conference and also to submit a question if they have one. Igniting strong discussions on these topics is not only interesting but it can also lead to innovative ideas and further collaboration, which is all essential if we are to solve some really big environmental problems.
Having the conference accessible to a wide audience by hosting it online will hopefully spark some healthy debate and be a source of inspiration. Climate changes poses us with some big challenges and forums like this are important to bring people together to help find solutions.Cllr Jason Smithers, Leader of the Council
