Financial support - Newborn to 2 years old

If you are worried about your finances, and feel that you might not have enough to support, feed or clothe yourself and your new baby, there is support for you.

Healthy Start - food and milk

Healthy Start is a local programme that assists with buying healthy food and milk if you have a child under 4 years old. You receive a Healthy Start card with money on it, which you can use to buy:

  • plain liquid cow’s milk
  • fresh, frozen, and tinned fruit and vegetables
  • fresh, dried, and tinned pulses
  • infant formula milk based on cow’s milk

You can also use your card to collect:

  • vitamins – these support you during pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • vitamin drops for babies and young children – these are suitable from birth to 4 years old

Grow Baby - children's clothing and essentials

Buying your baby clothing and essentials can be expensive. Grow Baby helps parents to get children's clothing and other important resources. You can access this service if you have children aged between 0 to 5 and are struggling financially.

Families are referred by their professional support network (usually health or education services) and then invited to attend Grow Baby. Families attending can choose clothing for their children from Grow Baby boutique, absolutely free-of-charge, relax and enjoy the free coffee and cakes. The small team are available for a chat and offer advice in regards to any additional support, if needed.

Baby Basics, provide Moses baskets, full of new mum and baby essentials.

These include second hand (but good condition) baby clothes, towels, bedding and new and unopened toiletries such as breast pads, toothbrushes, shampoo and nappies. This service is there for new mums in need.
