Applying for Keyways

You can apply to join our Keyways housing register online.

Evidence

You'll need to provide evidence of:

  • your local connection to North Northamptonshire (e.g. evidence of a close family member - parent, sibling or child - living in North Northamptonshire for 5 years or more)
  • ID for all household members including photographic ID for the main joint applicants (e.g. passports, birth certificates)
  • your right to live in the UK if you are not a British citizen (e.g. passport plus other relevant Home Office documentation)
  • National Insurance numbers for each household member aged 16 and over
  • Full five year address history for all household members, including the tenure and landlord contact details
  • children living with you (e.g. child benefit payment and child tax credits)
  • other supporting documents you may feel relevant to your current housing circumstances, or the type of property you need (e.g. Notice to quit, Occupational Therapist report, GP letters, etc)

Apply

Once a year (normally on the anniversary of your application) you will be sent a renewal reminder together. You must renew your application within 28 days otherwise it will be closed. Make sure you keep your contact details up-to-date.

Processing your application

We aim to contact you within 10 working days to confirm if:

  • any additional evidence is needed
  • your application has been activated
  • you're ineligible to join

Verification can include checks with: 

  • current and previous landlords
  • Government agencies
  • credit reference agencies 

Once your application has been assessed and accepted, you will receive a registration letter which will include your:

  • login reference
  • Keyways band
  • band effective date
  • information on how to use the Keyways system
