Loan boxes

The Manor House Museum has a selection of loans boxes that can be hired by schools and community organisations for a weekly period.

Loan boxes generally contain some original artefacts as well as replicas, together with illustrated material, background information and teachers notes.

The following boxes are available for loan:

• Toys and Games

Availability

Boxes are loaned on a weekly basis; the hire week starts with collection on a Saturday and finishes with returns by the following Friday by noon. Boxes are often available for longer than a single week; our staff will be able to advise whether a longer loan period is available.

Boxes are available for collection from the Manor House Museum. The cost of a loans box is £5 per week. Loans box invoices are emailed out to your establishment after the box has been returned and checked back in by our staff. 

Loans box care

When a box is collected, you will be asked to sign a Loans Box Agreement Form. This is to ensure that we have the correct contact details for you and helps to prevent any confusion if objects are mislaid, as any missing items will be listed on the form when you collect the box.

You must: 

1. check that boxes are carefully packed when in transit
2. handle objects with care
3. keep the objects locked away when not in use as they are for use in supervised handling sessions only
4. check all objects against the list provided within the box when it is re-packed to make sure that none are missing

Please return the box by the agreed date, as other groups may have booked it. If not, an additional charge of £5 per day for the first 3 days and a £1 charge per day thereafter will be invoiced to the hirer until the box is returned.

Loss or damage

Any items broken or lost will be charged for as well as for the administration time it costs for us to source replacement items. If damage does occur, please do not attempt to repair an object yourself.
