Benefits of joining us

Work patterns

We give staff greater choice and flexibility in when they work through providing the opportunity to change work pattern through applying for agile or flexible working arrangements, including part time, job share, term time only, annualised hours and flexi time.

Flexi-time scheme

Some areas operate a flexible scheme which supports different working time patterns
to enhance our services. It also allows greater scope to accommodate personal and domestic commitments and gives the opportunity to agree start and finish times with your manager.

Family friendly policies

We have a number of family friendly policies to help you maintain a healthy work-
life balance. Including generous maternity provisions, parental leave, adoption leave and foster leave.

Annual leave and bank holidays

You will enjoy a generous annual leave entitlement as well as bank holidays. Our leave year runs from 1 April to 31 March. If you are part time then you will receive a pro-rata
entitlement.

The full time annual leave entitlement starts at 28 days’ annual leave (29 for Senior Managers) with a further 5 days after 5 years of continuous service.

In addition to the basic annual leave, employees are entitled to 8 bank holidays.

Purchased leave

Some employees really appreciate flexibility to help them on a one off or on-going
basis, so you can apply to buy up to 10 days additional leave.

Pension

Local Government Pension Scheme (16% employer contribution), plus immediate life cover (three times your annual salary from day one) and ill-health protection.

Employee benefits scheme

Exclusive access to our employee benefit scheme to help you save money every day. If you take full advantage of this scheme you could make significant savings every year with discounts on national brands and in local independent stores too.

Development opportunities

Whether you are at the start of your career or an experienced professional, we are committed to identifying and developing your skills, knowledge and potential.

We have our own training and development centre, in addition to offering external training and development opportunities.

Supporting local charities

We support local charities in our area, through the Pennies from Heaven scheme. Pennies from Heaven allows you to donate the additional pennies from your pay each month to local charities.
