Send us your woodland wildlife sightings

To conserve woodlands, we need to know what's there now. Help us by emailing your sightings of Corby's woodland wildlife to [email protected].

Our funding

Securing a sustainable future for our local woodlands in Corby has always been a challenge. Funding was originally secured through the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

Generous grant support from the Forestry Commission has meant the Corby Woodland Project has been able to deliver many of the operational targets set out in the Hazel and Thoroughsale woodland management plan. This has seen the project raise its profile to a national exemplar.

Over the years the project has developed a social enterprise following the opening of Foxy’s Woodland Shop in 2014. The shop sells sustainable and locally sourced firewood and hazel products made by volunteers in the woodland workshop next door! All profit goes back into the project helping to secure long term sustainability for conservation works.

Achievements

Some key achievements have been:

  • fantastic engagement with local volunteers
  • securing the nationally recognised Green Flag and Green Apple awards
  • recognition from the Royal Forestry Society in their Excellence in Forestry Awards for Community Forestry
