Expanded retail discount 2021
On 3rd March 2021, the Government announced additional business rates support for eligible retail, hospitality and leisure businesses that occupy a qualifying property.
All eligible ratepayers received a discount on their business rates bills of 100% for the first three months and there was no cash cap on this relief.
A further relief scheme is available to eligible ratepayers for the period 1st July 2021 to 31st March 2021, which is a 66% discount.
This discount must be applied for and there is a cash cap (or limit on the amount you can receive) to this relief as follows:
- £105,000 per business that was permitted to remain open as of 5th January, in accordance with the coronavirus rules
or - £2 million per business that was required to close
