When someone dies

The government provides guidance on what to do after a death including how to:

• register a death - our Registration service will support you with this
• tell government about the death
• arrange a funeral - we operate two crematoriums and various cemeteries in the area
• check if you can get bereavement benefits
• deal with your own benefits, pension and taxes
• find bereavement support and services
• check if you need to apply to stay in the UK
• value the estate and check if you need to pay Inheritance Tax
• apply for probate
• deal with the estate
