Careers in Children's Services

George Candler introduction
I'm really excited about the formation of North Northamptonshire Council, which brings together five different councils to form one of the largest in England and gives me a fantastic opportunity to build a team that truly delivers.

I take immense pride in the work we do, which is why I'm on the lookout for individuals who share that same sense of pride in their own work. I need people who are not afraid to take on challenges independently and who can help us provide the absolute best Children services to our wonderful children and families, something that's really important for our community.

I consider myself a team player, and I genuinely want enthusiastic and experienced individuals to join us in the important public service we're engaged in. I've already advertised some of the available roles, and there are more to come. So, if any of these positions catch your interest, I'm more than willing to take the time to get to know you better, answer your questions, and provide you with more information about the exciting journey we're embarking on.
David Watts - Executive Director, Children's Services (interim DCS)

Our service

As one of the largest councils in the country, we support approximately 359,500 people. We are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our residents, many of whom work with us. Our work extends across the North Northamptonshire's four areas - Corby, East Northamptonshire, Kettering and Wellingborough. Regardless of your preferred location, there are exciting opportunities for you!

We will be our best so every child can be their best.

We are committed to inclusive practice and co-production.

We make our decisions to ensure the child is at the centre of all we do.
Our simple vision

We are utilising national funding opportunities to enhance the development of our services. We provide top-notch training and support and are expanding the range of services we offer to make a positive impact on the children and families of North Northamptonshire. Take our new Family Hubs, set to launch in 2023, which will provide children and families with an excellent foundation for a successful and happy future.

Our Children's Services are forward-thinking and innovative, with a strong focus on education. Working with children and young people can be both challenging and rewarding, as it enables you to make a significant difference in their lives. We understand the importance of providing our teams with the right support, promoting a healthy work-life balance, and ensuring manageable workloads.

Our offer

We offer fantastic benefits and a great place to work, including agile working, great staff benefits and salary sacrifice schemes for cars, annual leave and cycling to work, as well as an excellent pension scheme.

North Northamptonshire Council has been accredited as a 'Foster Friendly' employer, emphasising the significance we place on supporting staff who foster children and helping them balance their work and care responsibilities. This status is reflected in our updated HR policy.

We have established forums that support and amplify the voices of our diverse teams. At North Northamptonshire, we go even further by implementing a reverse mentoring scheme to support leaders in understanding the experiences of staff with protected characteristics. We strive for equality and aim to get things right.
